Gilroy Garlic Festival

I am finally starting a blog so that Ava's grandparents have a chance to know her weekly whereabouts. Hope you enjoy.

Today we headed to the Gilroy Garlic Festival about 30 miles away. It is a huge event, bringing in tens of thousands each day. Here's a description of the event:
"Here, it's chic to reek. Two thousand pounds of garlic were delivered to the event, its 31st annual gathering, as well as 20,000 pounds of beef, 6,000 pounds of calamari, 4,000 pounds of pasta and 30 pallets of charcoal."
We spent most of the time in the children's area. They had rides, a stage with live music and a Home Depot workshop. Ava and Dad assembled a wooden helicopter. We watched a marionette show that I enjoyed as much as she did. It was lots of fun, but HOT. Oh, and we even tried garlic ice cream which Ava gobbled down. Here is a picture of the helicopter she made and painted and also a fairy wand that we bought there. She PROMISES she won't break this one! I am doubtful, but it was only $1.50!
