Ballerina

Here is a really good picture of Ava doing her ballerina routine in the Circus at school on March 4. She had the biggest smile on her face the whole time.

Humming bird

We have a humming bird nest on our back deck in the trellis work. Mom read about it on the internet and it says that the eggs are the size of jellybeans and hatch in 3 weeks. The baby birds stay for 3 weeks after that. Right now the mother bird leaves the nest for only a couple of minutes at a time and then comes right back to keep the eggs warm.

Coffee!

Sarah is very interested in Dad's coffee mug. So Dad washed out a mug and gave it to her. She was quite proud to have her own to play with.

Ava and Sejin

Ava and Sejin doing a job together. They take a picture card and then use the letters to spell the word and they write it down on a clip board. We think that this is one of Ava's favorite jobs and she is quite proficient at spelling and reading! She is ready for Kindergarten next year, but not sure that Kindergarten is ready for Ava!

Feast of St Joseph

Saturday was the Feast of St Joseph. Ava's school had a Dad & Child Mass and celebration on Friday. It was raining so we had the celebration in the classroom. Dad got to sit with Ava at circle time where she got a turn to be the helper, we had snacks, and then played some games including musical chairs and egg carry. It was a special morning and Ava was a little sad to see Dad go when it was over.

See my teeth

I like to smile and laugh a lot. My big sister is especially funny and makes me laugh. Can you see my two bottom teeth? They are really coming in and are handy for biting crackers.

Sitting up

Look at me sitting up now! I like to sit on the floor and play with all of my toys. I have learned how to balance and can sit for a long time without falling over. Mom spreads my toys all around me and I reach for them and pick them up. Sometimes I do fall over to one side then I get on my stomach and try to get up on my hands and knees, maybe I will figure out how to crawl soon. Mom got all of the baby-proofing stuff out today and is ordering a big gate to keep me off the steps!

Princesses

Ava played with her princess "guys" all day on Sunday. She even put on a "show" with them for Mom and Dad. First she did a "show" of Snow White (which she also watched on TV on Sunday too). Then she did a "show" of Sleeping Beauty.

The Youngest Astronaut

Sarah was good at the Nasa exhibit, we think that she liked the lights and she was content for most of it. Mom took Sarah to the Doctor's on Monday for a checkup and found out that she has an ear infection! She is such a good baby that Mom and Dad didn't even know. She weights 16.5 lb and is 97% in length. She got 4 vaccination shots and slept sound Monday night. Dr prescribed antibiotics so hopefully her ear infection will go away before it gets worse.

Space Station

Sunday the family took a trip to the NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Field. There is a small museum there with some interesting displays and a large 40 ft wide screen where they show satellite images of space. Ava asked the man several questions and he was impressed. She knows all of the planets and that our solar system is in the Milky Way Galaxy. The show was pretty good, even Mom and Dad learned a some things that they didn't know! Here is Ava in part of the International Space Station, her cute outfit is from Mimi.

Polly Pockets and Doll House

Ava still loves to play with her dollhouse. Grandpa made it for her two years ago before we moved to California. Ava has had lots of fun with it ever since. It has seen all of her "guys" over the last two years, now it is home to the Polly Pockets! She has hours of fun with it every day!

Breakfast in bed

Ava has a Berenstain Bear book where Papa, Brother, and Sister Bear make a surprise breakfast in bed for Mama Bear. On Saturday morning Ava and Dad made a surprise breakfast in bed for Mom. Dad made eggs, oatmeal, fruit, and coffee. Ava helped arrange the tray and picked a beautiful bouquet of yellow flowers. Mom was very surprised and happy!

Playing in the "rain"

It wasn't exactly raining on Saturday, but Ava really wanted it to rain. So she got on her rain coat and umbrella. She also put on a hat though it wasn't cold. She played outside for quite a while. In the foreground you can see a pile of barbies.

Ballerinas

Friday Ava's school put on a Circus. Ava was a ballerina, here she is with her friend Amelia and Mrs Vlad. She did a really good job being a ballerina, Mom did her hair up in a very pretty bun. Ava was all smiles and waves to the audience. Afterwards she even got cotton candy!

Sarah's faces

We have absolutely no idea how to even begin to describe these faces that Sarah makes. She huffs and puffs when she makes these faces. We don't think that she is truly mad or frustrated, rather she seems to be determined or focused on something, we just don't know what.

Ava's weather

We know when Ava has been on the computer if the screen is on her "Starfall" learning page or the weather. She likes to look and see if it is going to be sunny, cloudy, or rainy. She also checks the low and high temperatures. If Dad is around she will "read" the weather out loud to Daddy, then she says "Will you take it?" And Dad usually says, "Yeah, I'll take that".

Two hot dogs!

Ava wanted hot dogs for dinner on Sunday. She ate two whole hot dogs, buns and all. This was only a couple hours after she had a cup of ice cream with Dad at Cold Stone Creamery.

Crackers

Each lunch and dinner Sarah gets a saltine cracker as a treat. She mostly breaks it apart in her mouth and the pieces fall out. But every now and then a soggy piece stays in her mouth and probably dissolves.
